Sigrid Kohlbecker, Painter

My paintings are created using acrylic. I work predominantly on large-scale canvases, employing an almost white undulating background. The paintings, with their depth of shadows are further brought to life/animated through subtle changes in light. The clean and simple backgrounds direct the viewers' attention to the flowers, while also allowing the paintings to work well in a wide variety of different environments.

Using a very fine and meticulous process, my paintings seduce the viewer through the play of light on delicate pastel flower petals, and the deep velvet reds of rose blossoms. My compositions explore the tender innocence, and soul of different flower blossoms. They focus on individual characters, or the relations between pairs, or within small groups of flowers.
